AQUARIUMS

Heat Pumps for Aquariums

An Aquarium is usually a transparent tank full of water that we use to display plants, fish and/or other aquatic animals. It can also be used for veterinary purposes and research. Although an Aquarium is mostly used as an ornament, it is commonly used as a part of a homes decoration and a beautiful nature showroom that we can admire aquatic animals and plants. There is also the successful use of Fish Tanks in Aquarium Therapy which is the use of an Aquarium to relief stress and to bring many health benefits even in hospitals and offices.

Composition of an Aquarium

Hydro Royal Pumps

The most important item is the one that will ensure that water will keep moving all the time through a biofilter or it will be exchanged with a water source out of the tank.
This constant water flow will keep the Aquarium always full of oxygen and nitrogen rich water. Compared to an Aquaponics System or an Aquaculture, the intensity of any operation in an Aquarium is not as heavy and not intensely required. We expect less biofiltration, less solid waste removal and less need of oxygen in the water in general. We will be sure that our fish will have the ideal environmental condition in which to live while consuming food and maintaining their regular respiration inside the fish tank.

Proper Lighting VS. Artificial Light

We all know that some species of fish will need light in order to survive. There is the possibility of establishing a successful Aquarium without natural light. In order to get the best result, if you are planning to implement an artificial light source, we recommend following some advices from professionals that can provide the best guidance on proper wavelength for your culture, duration of artificial light and spectrum distribution of many artificial light sources. Those factors are very important to make sure that you will keep your fishes healthy inside your Fish Tank. Light is a crucial factor and it will be directly responsible to the health of your fishes. To be exact, on the issue 155, you can get a closer look on the subject of Artificial Light and its spectrum distribution in depth. To help you getting started with some artificial light information, in special, the spectrum distribution of different artificial light sources, we suggest the "Home Power" magazine - www.homepower.com .

Oxygen for fish

Aquariums require some extra oxygen that can be generated on site or introduced in the form of liquid cold oxygen. Before pumping the water into fish tanks, there is the need of saturating the water with pure oxygen that can be pumped from the atmospheric air through "oxygen cones" or "air stones". There is also the technique of introducing oxygen stones that will bubble pure oxygen into the fish tank. You can choose the best option in order to get the necessary oxygen supply in the water for your fish, but it is imperative that you pick one.

Water and Tanks (Fish Tanks)

A Tank for an Aquarium is usually a glass-sided tank that we can keep fishes or other living aquatic animals and/or plants. We must find the perfect equilibrium between the amount of fish and the quantity of water inside a fish tank. There is an optimum mixture to make sure that the fish will be healthy. By optimum mixture, we mean the ideal proportion of water compared to the amount of fish in the fish tank. Having in mind that we are setting up an Aquarium for regular fishes to be displayed, the ideal water to circulate through the tank and the biofilter should be around a gallon of water for each 1/2 pound of fish. This will ensure that the fish will have enough water to grow, they will find enough space to swim and also it is the guarantee that they will find enough oxygen in the water in order to live longer and healthier.

Ultraviolet Water Purification

We all know that both fish and plants will need light in order to survive. There is the possibility of establishing a successful Aquaponics System without natural light. In order to get the best result, if you are planning to implement an artificial light source, we recommend following some advices from professionals that can provide the best guidance on proper wavelength for your culture, duration of artificial light and spectrum distribution of many artificial light sources. Those factors are very important to make sure that you will keep your fishes and plants healthy. Light is a crucial factor and it will be responsible directly to the maximum growth rate possible. To help you getting started with some artificial light information, in special, the spectrum distribution of different artificial light sources, we suggest the "Home Power" magazine - www.homepower.com -. To be exact, on the issue 155, you can get a closer look on the subject of Artificial Light and its spectrum distribution in depth.

Ultraviolet Water Purification

Ultraviolet can be damaging to the Aquarium and water must be filtered to prevent diseases and contamination. There is the possibility of using a Ultraviolet Water Purification System or a Ultraviolet water filter prior to pumping water into the Aquarium. We must disinfect the water prior to pumping it directly into the Fish Tank.

Biofilter and Biofiltration

In order to keep the Aquarium balanced and sustainable, some special micro-organisms and bacteria can be introduced into the culture to filter unwanted debris and toxic chemicals that will be an inevitable result from the metabolic process of the fish eating. The general idea is that we need to properly clean the Fish Tank from Ammonia and toxic nitrites. Those toxic chemicals will then be transformed into hydrogen and also a nitrite that is less toxic than the original composts. The "Biofilter" will go further on those necessary reactions and it will transform the nitrite, which is yet toxic, into a nitrate.

Temperature Control

The key to get the best result out of your Aquarium is to maintain the proper water temperature depending on the species of fishes inside the tank. The most efficient way to keep water temperature is by taking advantage of the technology brought to you by a heat pump. This wonderful piece of machinery will not only generate heat and directly heat the water, but it will smartly induce the movement of heat from an air source or a water source to perfectly adjust the water temperature and avoid any heat variation or sudden temperature changes that can be damaging to any living creature or plant. The gold habits of using propane and natural gas are not yet gone for some people, but a heat pump is introducing a new better way to maximize results and improve growth without the need of an electric resistance coil or any combustion at all. The biggest advantage is that you can have the best results for heating and cooling with a 1/7th of the costs that you would have using propane or even an electric resistance heating.
Nowadays, the best solution to keep a great and simple water temperature control is a Heat Pump. There is the Heat Pump solution, but there is a Hydro Royal Heat Pump which is much better than any other option ever. The Hydro Royal Heat Pump has the technology that will ensure that an Aquarium will maintain the correct temperature all year long. The Hydro Royal Heat Pump intelligence does not only heat the water, as you may expect, The Hydro Royal Geothermal Heat Pump will control and keep the ideal water temperature no matter what season and no matter the external temperature surrounding your fish tank. Forget about gas fired combustion systems. They can only heat the water, but without the intelligence of a Hydro Royal Heat Pump, you will never be able to use simply air or water for both automatically heating and also cooling the water inside the tank when needed.

Disposal of Solid Wastes

Aquariums will produce some solid wastes as a result of fish detriments and uneaten food. There are many options for the removal of solid wastes from an Aquarium, but using sedimentation, swirl separators or screen filters should be enough to get your fish tank rid of solid debris and solid wastes.

Hydro Royal already have a successful story in the Heat Pump industry. The commercial and industrial Heat Pump sector is not new to our brand. We interpret Aquariums as an extension of our job as a leader in the swim pool field because an Aquarium have the same important requirement to keep the water temperature stable, but the only difference is their overall purpose. An Aquarium can be seen as a big swim pool for fishes and we are proud to be the best brand to keep the temperature of any possible swim pool as its best.

Choose the correct Hydro Royal Heat Pump for your Aquarium

We already have mentioned that temperature is crucial for fishes in your Aquarium. Having that in mind, we can say that the right Hydro Royal Heat Pump Model is also very important too. Some factors may determine which Hydro Royal Heat Pump to use, specially depending on your geographical location and regular conditions of the weather surrounding your Aquarium. You will be choosing between a Water/Geothermal source Hydro Royal Heat Pump or an air source Hydro Royal Heat Pump. Those two types of Hydro Royal Heat Pumps are very efficient for an Aquarium and, not to mention, a great energy-saving Heat Pump option.

Hydro Royal Heat Pump X Conventional Electric Resistance, Natural Gas Combustion and Propane Combustion

You have the choice to consider either using a water source Heat Pump or an air source Heat Pump, but both are much more efficient than gas or element heating.
A Hydro Royal Heat Pump has the technology to pump much more energy than it consumes. A Hydro Royal Heat Pump, first of all, is environmental friendly, and it leaves a very small environmental footprint, despite of being very economical, proven safe and a total trouble-free system that is very easy to handle with an extremely low operating cost. We already have mentioned that Heat Pumps have a long lifespan and incredible durability. We also have to mention that a Hydro Royal Heat Pump is Energy Efficient.
The idea behind the Hydro Royal Heat Pump is very simple and it was built purely to pump and to move heat from the source (in our case Water or Air) into the Aquarium (or any other culture in the water or any need to keep the water at a constant temperature). The Hydro Royal Heat Pump will transfer the heat from the source to the water into the tank while keeping its temperature ideally constant.
A Hydro Royal Heat Pump, on the other hand, is able to efficiently control the water temperature inside the Aquarium without the need to keep the external air temperature at the same level. The temperature out of the Fish Tank can freely vary accordingly to the outdoor temperature without ever affecting the temperature inside the Aquarium. The Hydro Royal Heat Pump will not be dependent on the room temperature to achieve the desirable result in the water inside the Fish Tank.

Hydro Royal Heat Pump Geothermal X Hydro Royal Heat Pump Air Source

We help you choosing well your Hydro Royal Heat Pump unit because it is an important decision since a Hydro Royal Heat Pump can last as long as 25 plus years and have an expected life span of 10 to 20 years. A Hydro Royal Geothermal Heat Pump can be used both to heat and also to chill the water in an Aquarium. For the purpose of an Aquarium, we may agree that a Hydro Royal Geothermal Heat Pump is more efficient than a Hydro Royal Air Source Heat Pump because, in most cases, water will be a very good source that can provide a constant energy temperature while the air has a lower Coefficient of Performance or C.O.P., most of the time. Depending on your region and specific climate, you can also successfully introduce a Hydro Royal Air Source Heat Pump for your Aquarium, but you have to consider that you will need enough outdoor space for your Air Source Heat Pump unit to be placed as well as enough room to receive the necessary air to heat and cool down the water when needed. We are mentioning this information because the Air Source Heat Pump is undoubtedly a better choice than any conventional heat alternative ever made, but there is some details to be considered prior to installing it. First of all, since the Air Source Heat Pump will be placed outdoors, it will be exposed to many natural and environmental variants that will inevitably make their lifespan shorter than the Hydro Royal Geothermal Heat Pump that will be placed indoors. The ideal environment to place an outdoor Air Source Heat Pump is the one that can provide an Air Source pretty much constantly remaining at 40°F or above to guarantee that the water temperature required and the desired temperature to keep your ideal Aquarium working will be ensured.
